Hydraulic pressure enables work and motion to be done through a water-soluble oil or water-glycol mixture. Brake calipers convert brake fluid into mechanical force, causing friction and pressure to the brake rotors to slow down or stop your car. How to Spot a Faulty Brake Caliper

• Your car pulls to one side when you brake
• Fluid leaks under the brake system
• Vibration and shaking when you apply the brakes
• Soft brake pedals, indicating air in the brake lines
• It takes longer or it’s more difficult to apply the brakes

Unusual noises while braking like squealing, grinding, and vibrating are telltale signs of a faulty caliper. If you’re driving and you notice these symptoms, pull over and call a mechanic immediately.
